What is "Xoops Update"
Xoops Update is a module for XOOPS. This module support updating XOOPS core and/or 3rd party modules.
This module is installed to "update" as default.
Install
This module can be installed as same as other Xoops modules.

Extract module files and upload in
XOOPS_ROOT_PATH/modulesfolder. - Install by Module Administration.
- Currently, Update module supports only UNIX like system.
- You CAN NOT use 1 click update without server setting. Please see Advanced Settings.
Usage
This module can use from “Admin menu” on Xoops. See below.- Mark check box which you want to check update.
- Then click "Check and Update". This module starts checking each module status.
- Get [Backup changes]
- Get [Update Archive]
Describe more detail as follows.

For example, “Modify” status means that installed package is modified from original package. ou must click each "modify" link for tell module how those package should do. This operation is called "Adjustment".
Adjustment
If package files are modified from original files, you need to do adjustment operation. You can't do updating if modify status package is shown.
Click "Modify" anchor, enter check and register page. You can check status, "Remove" or "Change". Those files are removed or modified from original packages.
For example, normally /install folder is removed for security after installing Xoops. So you may see the files are removed which located /install folder. Also mainfile.php is "Change" status, because it has your site information. And "Change" status to be a anchor. You can inspect changes in diff style.
You have to check all listed files, and Click "Register Changes". No “Adjustment” file is shown, now you can do update step as following.
Advanced Settings
Update module can update all system with 1 click when Update module settings is done. This operation needs administration (superuser) permission for the server. Operation on Superuser account makes some risks for security and broke something. You must do this operation with understanding those risks and carefulness.
In this settings describe in "About Update" at module admin menu. See "Unix System Settings" section in help page at Update module and contact your server admin.
After do all settings, you can see "Do Update" button on "Check and Update" page when update packages are exist. You can do update only click this button.
